Depression: If You Don't Mind, It Doesn't Matter

Remember the phrase about mind over matter? It's been misattributed to Mark Twain & others as "Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don'd mind, it doesn't matter." Well, in a bit of a twist on this random topic, a randomized study was just published online in the British Medical Journal in which the authors concluded that treatment of depression in the elderly was linked to lower mortality. In other words, don't ignore signs & symptoms of depression. Talk to your family doc about different options, both pharmacologic & non-pharmacogenic.
