But if you need to find a good family physician, federally funded health centers can offer you excellent primary care. Many other free medical clinics receive community & state support along w/federal assistance, too. Health care providers, retired & otherwise, have banded together in their local communities under the Volunteers in Medicine logo to provide low cost or free care.
Big Pharma has also stepped up to the plate w/many programs to defray the costs of branded medications that aren't available as $4 generics. There are even ways to lower the cost of laboratory testing from the retail price charged if you just walk in with a requisition.
