Regardless, most of the law won't take effect for another 2 years, which is a long time when one doesn't currently have health insurance. I'm reminded of this every time I go online and try to provide some general advice at www.avvo.com and more recently, www.healthtap.com. Time & time again, people are writing in for help because they don't have health insurance. And they can't wait until 2014.
Fortunately, it turns out that there exists a series of safety nets across this great country of ours where one can receive low cost, if not free, health care. Now, don't expect to go there for cosmetic surgery. But if you need to find a good family physician, federally funded health centers can offer you excellent primary care. Many other free medical clinics receive community & state support along w/federal assistance, too. Health care providers, retired & otherwise, have banded together in their local communities under the Volunteers in Medicine logo to provide low cost or free care.
Big Pharma has also stepped up to the plate w/many programs to defray the costs of branded medications that aren't available as $4 generics. There are even ways to lower the cost of laboratory testing from the retail price charged if you just walk in with a requisition.
Bottom line: there's no need to wait 2 years for ObamaCare to kick in. If you found this post, surely you can click this link to my page centralizing the above information. Or forward it to someone you know who needs medical care but has been holding out because s/he doesn't have health insurance. Well, wait no more!
